Design Process
Before beginning any assignment, Garett meets with the potential client at the actual site. At the consultation, which lasts about an hour and involves no cost, he learns about both the site and the client, determining the characteristics of the place and the needs of the person.
Once hired, Garett creates a series of color sketches on tissue that present
a range of ideas. Based on the client’s responses and on additional
ideas that may come up in the course of the meeting over the sketches, he
develops a final sketch. Once the client has approved the final sketch, Garett
completes a full set of working drawings that contain all elements necessary
for bidding and construction.
The completed working drawings can be put out for bid by the client independently
or with Garett’s assistance. Once a contractor has been selected, Garett
oversees all design layout, including planting, and he personally selects
all specimen trees. Field observation of a project, covers the transition
from initial design to final layout and is responsible for the ultimate success
of the project.
