Garett Carlson / Landscape Architecture

"The unique ability to unlock the often hidden potential of a space through expert site planning
has distinguished Garett Carlson's landscape designs for more than 25 years." -Departures Magazine
Garett Carlson
has been creating uniquely beautiful, timeless landscape and architectural
environments in Southern California and elsewhere for over 25 years. He is
widely respected as a landscape architect who brings a special vision to site
planning and an unusual aesthetic sensitivity to the design of outdoor space.
Garett takes a highly personal, hands-on approach to the carefully chosen,
limited number of projects his Beverly Hills-based firm, LandArc, accepts.
While his work cannot be categorized in conventional terms of style, he is
equally adept at modernist, Asian or more traditional designs. Garett’s
landscapes are recognizable for the quality of feeling they create. Clients
often describe them as “magical,” and invariably remark that the
trees and gardens seem to have been there forever. He is particularly esteemed
for his ability to add a dramatic, measurable value to any property he designs.
Garett received
his degree in landscape architecture from Cal Poly Pomona and followed it
with further graduate work in architecture at UCLA. Garett worked closley
with the great landscape architect Dudley Trudgett, from whom he adopted the
philosophy that transcendent landscape architecture begins with an informed,
artistic approach to site planning and a clear understanding of the needs
and mind set of the client.
Garett’s practice now encompasses both residential and commercial projects,
and ranges from 100-acre sites to small gardens, from estates to modest homes,
from luxurious hotels to low-cost housing developments. The quality and challenge
of a project are what draw him to one assignment over another.
